<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">The Chief Executive Officer of <strong>Sindhica Reforms Society </strong>is currently traveling from <strong>Karachi to Washington, DC</strong>, via <strong>Doha</strong>, to participate in the <strong><a href="https://sdg.iisd.org/events/69th-meeting-of-the-gef-council/#:~:text=The%2069th%20meeting%20of%20the%20Global%20Environmental,and%20two%20from%20economies%20in%20transition%20(EITs))." target="_blank" rel="noopener">69th GEF Council Meeting </a>of the Global Environment Facility Council</strong>, scheduled from <strong>2 to 6 June 2025</strong> in <strong>Washington, United States</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">The <a href="https://sindhicareformssociety.com/invitation-to-gef-consultation-with-civil-society/"><strong>Global Environment Facility</strong> i</a>s a multilateral partnership of 186 countries, international institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector, working together to address global environmental issues.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">GEF Council, its principal governing body, meets twice annually to develop and approve policies, programs, and funding for projects in key areas including biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, chemicals and waste, and sustainable forest management.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">The Council consists of 32 members: 14 from developed countries, 16 from developing countries, and two from economies in transition.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none"><strong>Sindhica Reforms Society</strong> is a registered non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Pakistan, actively working for environmental protection, sustainable development, and community welfare, particularly in the Sindh province.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">The organization has been engaged in various field-based initiatives focused on environmental awareness, natural resource management, water conservation, climate resilience, and community empowerment. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">SRS advocates for inclusive environmental governance and strives to bring grassroots concerns into national and international policy dialogues.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">The CEO&#8217;s participation in this 69th GEF Council meeting reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to contribute to international efforts toward sustainability and environmental justice.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">He will represent the perspectives and challenges faced by vulnerable communities in Pakistan, especially those affected by climate change, and seek collaborative opportunities for impactful environmental initiatives.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:3px;padding-right:16px;padding-bottom:3px;padding-left:16px;font-size:16px;text-transform:none">At Jinnah International Airport, just hours before departure, Mr. Ameen Keryo, CEO of Sindhica Reforms, shared a warm and memorable dinner hosted by Muhammad Yaqoob Laghari. </p>

They are set to attend the prestigious 69th GEF Council Meeting together, representing shared commitments to sustainable development and reform. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px"><a href="https://ajrakmart.com/products/ajrak-sindhi-original-hasho" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ajrak Sindhi </a>is a traditional block-printed cloth originating from the Sindh region of Pakistan. It is renowned for its intricate patterns, deep indigo and crimson hues, and the labor-intensive process involved in its creation. Ajrak holds immense cultural significance, symbolizing Sindhi heritage, hospitality, and respect. It is often presented as a gesture of goodwill and honor.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-right:15px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px"><strong>About the Global Environment Facility (GEF)</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px">The Council is the main governing body of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), consisting of 32 members appointed by constituencies of GEF member countries: 14 from developed countries, 16 from developing countries, and two from economies in transition. Council members rotate at intervals determined by their constituencies. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px">Typically meeting twice a year, the Council will convene three times in 2024. It is responsible for developing, adopting, and evaluating operational policies and programs for GEF-financed activities, and reviews and approves the work program, making decisions by consensus.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-right:15px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px"><strong>Presentation by Muhammad Ameen, CEO of Sindhica Reforms Society</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px">At the 67th GEF Council Meeting held in Washington, DC, the Sindhica Reforms Society (SRS) of Pakistan made a significant cultural gesture by presenting the traditional Ajrak to the new GEF CSO Chair, Mr. Faizal Parish, and the outgoing Chair, Dr. Maira. The presentation was conducted by Muhammad Ameen, CEO of SRS, highlighting the organization&#8217;s respect and appreciation for the leaders&#8217; contributions.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px">Muhammad Ameen emphasized the symbolism of the Ajrak, explaining its deep-rooted cultural importance in Sindh and its representation of honor and respect. He expressed admiration for Mr. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px">Faizal Parish’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community development, welcoming him warmly into his new role. Ameen also lauded Dr. Maira’s exceptional tenure, acknowledging her significant achievements and impactful leadership within the GEF community.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph" style="padding-top:5px;padding-right:15px;padding-bottom:5px;padding-left:15px;font-size:16px">The gesture of presenting Ajrak sindhi underscored the strong cultural ties and mutual respect between the Sindhica Reforms Society and the GEF. It served as a heartfelt token of appreciation, celebrating the commitment and efforts of both leaders in advancing global environmental goals.</p>
